"Early intensive behavioral programs are the only currently researched and proven treatment for autism"

Bridges Program

Bridges Program The Bridges Program is designed to “bridge” the transition from 1:1 intensive Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to a typical school setting in a classroom. This program is specifically designed to meet the treatment needs of those clients who demonstrate a strong likelihood of being able to be mainstreamed into a typical classroom with minimal to no supports. The clients in the program have achieved a level of skill mastery in which they are ready to begin to apply their skills acquired through 1:1 ABA therapy in a more naturalistic classroom type environment with other children. The Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS) is used to guide the identification of treatment goals and to measure client progress. At admission into the Bridges program, an anticipated discharge date generally extending up to, but not limited to, one year from the date of admission is specified to ensure all parties continue to work towards the end goal of full-time integration into the school setting.

The Bridges program is divided into an A.M. and P.M. program, with some children attending one or both program parts depending upon client needs. The Bridges A.M. program is a structured classroom environment where the client works on social and language ABLLS goals and classroom routines in a 1:1 up to a 1:3 staff to student ratio. The Bridges P.M. has a classroom facilitator who focuses on implementing the curriculum for the group, based activities and classroom routines.
